MONROE, La. 鈥� A recent economic impact study shows that the 91精品福利一区二区三区 (ULM) is one of the largest economic drivers in Northeast Louisiana, contributing听$617.6 million in added income each year听to the region鈥檚 economy.听听

The study, conducted by Lightcast and reflecting FY 2023鈥�24, highlights the significant role ULM plays in workforce development, community vitality, and long-term economic growth.听

Key findings include:听

• 10,464 jobs supported听across the region, meaning听1 out of every 18 jobs in Northeast Louisiana is connected to ULM听or its students.听

• $457.7 million in added income from alumni impact, as graduates鈥� higher earnings fuel local businesses and industries.听

• $108.2 million from university operations spending, equivalent to the purchase of 2,290 new cars each year.听

• $32 million from student spending, as students attracted to ULM invest directly into the local economy.听

• $16.6 million from spin-off companies听launched by ULM-related entrepreneurship.听

• $1.8 million from visitor spending听and听$1.3 million from research activity, further diversifying regional economic benefits.听

Beyond its measurable financial impact, the study found that ULM provides exceptional returns for all stakeholders:听

• Taxpayers gain $2.40听in added revenue and savings for every $1 invested.听

• Students gain $5.30听in lifetime earnings for every $1 invested in their ULM education.听

• Society gains $6.60听in added income and social savings for every $1 invested.听

A Strong Return on Investment听

The report also highlights ULM鈥檚 exceptional return for students, taxpayers, and society:听

• Students:听For every $1 invested, students gain听$5.30 in lifetime earnings, with an annual return rate of听20.7%.听

• Taxpayers:听For every $1 of public funding, taxpayers receive听$2.40 in added tax revenue and savings, an annual return of听6.1%.听

• Society:听Louisiana gains听$6.60 in added income and social benefits听for every $1 invested in ULM, totaling more than听$1.4 billion听in long-term benefits听

Beyond Economics听

ULM also enhances quality of life through programs, outreach, and partnerships. For example, its听Mobile Dental Hygiene Unit听provides care to underserved rural communities while training future healthcare professionals, and its Visual and Performing Arts programs add cultural value through numerous musical performances, plays, and art shows and exhibits.听
